Sustainability Strategy


The starting point of A1 Telekom Austria Group's systematic approach to sustainability management is the three-column model of sustainable development, the triple bottom line “people, planet, profit”. Its understanding of responsibility thus includes social, ecological and economic factors. The sustainability strategy focusses on four strategic fields of action derived from a comprehensive materiality analysis. By means of a stakeholder survey, topics relevant to the company were thereby analysed and prioritised in accordance with social, economic and ecological aspects. Every action area is supported by clear goals and specific key figures. Thanks to regular participation in external ratings and indices, the Group faces international comparison. 

Group-Wide Management

In 2010 the A1 Telekom Austria Group installed a Group-wide, integrated sustainability management system, which is continuously developed in close consultation and with the support of the top management level. Group-wide standards and a regular exchange between those in positions of responsibility at the subsidiaries ensure the further development of the sustainability activities. A groupwide social collaboration platform is used as a knowledge an collaboration. As does a continuous dialogue with the external stakeholders.

The first survey on significant topics regarding sustainibility dates back to 2012. Since then it is conducted on a regular basis.

The Group-wide CSR strategy is based on four strategic areas of action that were defined in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders within the framework of a comprehensive materiality analysis. The A1 Telekom Austria Group has set specific targets for each of these four action areas and continuously monitors and measures its progress toward their attainment.

Ongoing dialogue with stakeholders

Exchange with internal and external interest groups is a central part of A1 Telekom Austria Group’s CSR approach. Therefore, it involves its stakeholders in the entire sustainability process, from involvement in strategy development and personal talks and surveys all the way to systematic reporting via manifold communications channels. Using memberships and cooperations, A1 Telekom Austria Group promotes joint activities.

Transparent Reporting

The sustainibility reporting is in line with the formal reporting criteria an refering to the GRI Standards "Option Core". Thanks to external assessment – also by means of domestic and international ratings – it continuously develops its sustainability strategy and measures further.
